Mike Mackenzie was introduced to golf by his father at the age of 7 and by the age of 11 was truly hooked and his life revolved around golf! By 16 years old, he was playing off a handicap of 2 and representing Angus County.
As a junior, his highlight was winning the Scottish Schools championship at Fairmont, St Andrews. He turned pro soon after, beginning his PGA training at Forfar Golf Club.
As a keen competitor, he enjoyed playing on the Scottish Professional tour. However, a few serious injuries and setbacks say Mike focus more on teaching as his profession. He has gained an excellent reputation for his successful coaching techniques.
Mike moved to Edzell Golf Club in 2011, completing the final year of his PGA degree under the excellent mentorship of Alastair Webster, himself an excellent competitor.
Mike has twelve years’ experience at Edzell Golf Club, building great relationships with the members whilst working and learning from the best, Head Professional, Alastair Webster.
Mike has a tough act to follow, but is committed to continuing to provide an excellent service to members and visitors at Edzell Golf Club.
Mike boasts a well-stocked pro shop and is available to help with lessons, advice and repairs. He can custom order anything that isn’t stocked in the shop to help with your golfing needs.
